A beautiful statement piece. These new tops are so romantic and feminine, made from heirloom textiles that have been hand cut into a clean, classic form and finished with a sharp black bind. They look equally amazing and unique whether worn in a cool casual way with old denim or dressed up fancy with a tailored skirt or trousers and special jewellery.

The classic shell shape has a relaxed fit that's been been carefully tailored for the perfect balance between comfortable looseness and flattering fit. Whilst simple, it's not boxy at all, with little design details that hint at feminine curves. So it looks lovely worn loose or tucked in.

Sometimes women hesitate at wearing pale colours, fearing they wash them out. But! The black binding against the skin eliminates that entirely, giving it a smart edge and the ornate textures are very far from beige.

Wear it with a black bra to tie in with the trim or contrast with a fun and bright colour instead. If neutrals are more your thing and you prefer some extra coverage, there's room for a white or blush singlet underneath. In cold weather it also looks amazing worn like a vest over a fitted long sleeve or turtle neck.

  • Good shoulder coverage
  • Neckline half way between a round and boat neck
  • Bust darts and slight curve at the waist
  • Hem finishes at the hip

One of a kind. Ethically handmade, partly in my studio along with a small local business in Sydney’s inner west.

Whilst I don’t know the individual provenance of each of these vintage fabrics individually, as I source and collect them from so many places, this is generally termed Quaker Lace, which is known for it’s thick cotton weave and ornate designs. It was originally produced in America in the late 1800’s by The Quaker Lace Company in America, which saw a dip in production during the war and then a resurgence mid century due to improved manufacturing. I estimate it’s one of those latter pieces. It feels beautiful to wear and considering its opulence, is quite a sturdy material. Although please only hand wash this piece of treasure - using mild soap, cold water, wring it out gently wrapped in a towel and dry flat across a clothes horse.

SIZING & FIT INFO

Average to generous sizing. Model shown is size 10-12, smaller bust, taller than average, wearing the 10 for a tailored but not tight look.

Please note that the weave of the lace makes each one have varying amounts of give and movement which can subtly affect  size and ft, though I recommend choosing your usual size.

To check your size, lay flat a favourite top and run a tape measure across the garment (not something stretchy) and compare your measurements to these below.
