A statement piece of Australiana! This green colour way of this print is very rare - from a sample fabric run by Sheridan, the history provided by a collector who's family used to run a fabric shop.
The Lucy Dress is an all year round favourite - relaxed, cool and comfortable on hot days but also layers comfortably in cool weather. I've seen so many lovely women of different shapes and sizes wear this dress now, it's our best seller!
Slightly loose, free shape with much care taken to finesse the fit ensuring a flattering form that isn't voluminous or boxy.
Relaxed fit, sits off the body.
Nips in slightly at just the right spot on the waist and lower back but still drapes over the tummy - not babydoll or drop waist.
Pull over style - no zipper.
Soft cap sleeves without an inset seam for ease of movement and flexibility in shoulder size. Allows for layering options like a long sleeved tee or turtle neck to be worn underneath.
Softly gathered skirt, that's floaty but not too full.
Hem falls just on/above the knee.
Pockets in the side seams.
Looks fantastic on a variety of body shapes and sizes
Genuine vintage fabric designed by Australian artist and icon Ken Done. The colours are not flat, they have texture, varying tones and depth like a painting and it really feels like you're wearing an artwork. Excellent pre-loved condition with a softly washed feel and drape. Cotton poly blend, estimated 60:40 ratio.
Cold hand wash using mild phosphate free detergent. No need to iron.
One of a kind, hand cut in my studio and sewn by a small business in Sydney’s inner west. Ethical and Local.
ABOUT VINTAGE FABRIC: These special materials are sourced as cut pieces, mostly a treasure from someone's personal sewing collection or linen press usually ranging from the 1930's to 1980's. It is very rare to find them on a roll like a new fabric, so once cut and sewn, the garment cannot be repeated, making it truly unique. They are getting harder to find, particularly in good enough condition for production and are increasingly expensive. Vintage fabrics all vary so much in texture, weight and drape, so the task of washing, sorting and saving for just the right project takes time and effort plus a discerning marriage of resources with design to create each piece. They form part of our resourceful ethos from an of an environmental perspective but also our genuine investment in handmaking pieces of high quality, with character, history and rejuvenation imbued within.
SIZE & FIT INFO: Average to generous sizing. Model with dark hair is average height with larger bust wearing 12. Model with fair hair is short, evenly proportioned, wearing 8.
